Lac de Beaute - 3 acre fishing lake - 2 hrs from ferry port

Lac de Beauté is an English owned and run family friendly lake sitting in the picturesque countryside of western France, about 2 hours from the ferry port of Caen.

It’s surrounded by Canadian pines and is rich in wildlife - squirrels, rabbits, multi-coloured kingfishers and owls are frequent visitors. It’s situated about 10 minutes south of the world famous Le Mans racetrack and there’s a range of local shops about 2 minutes drive away which includes a chemist, butchers, bakers, tobacconist and a supermarket.

The lake is 3 acres in size, sitting in 5 acres of land, and is around 37 years old. It’s fed from a natural spring and has a sand and gravel bed.

There are five well spaced swims, one of which is a double, accommodating up to five anglers. Fishing is from one bank which gives easy access to the far margin features. The banks are flat and grassy and have ample room for bivvies.

Lac de Beauté has a very good stock of carp which almost guarantees plenty of rod bending action! There were 200 carp introduced  in 2005 including 10 big carp between 43lb and 54lb 10oz with now at least one in the 60s, five in the 50s, numerous 40s and an abundance of 30s. The lake also offers catfish to 100lbs+, the smallest of cats is 45lb, and don't forget the sturgeons to 40lb.

To make things a bit more luxurious for our "Drive and Survive" anglers we have lots of extra facilities including 2 full body power showers, flush toilet, fridge, freezer, two ring hob, microwave, kettle and tea/coffee/sugar & milk.

This venue is well suited for disabled anglers as there is good access to the shower block via a concrete wheel chair ramp and extra wide doors. The owner, Alex, is always on hand to assist the disabled angler with any aspect of his/her fishing and actively welcomes disabled fisherman.

There are also 2 modern mobile homes on site which can be hired. They are very comfortable and comprise a large lounge area with  English Freeview TV / dvd, a fully equipped kitchen area with fridge, freezer and pots, pans & cutlery - all you need to bring is your own towels and tea towels.

Bedding is provided and it will sleep up to 6 people and 1 small child (1 double room, 1 room with 2 small singles and small child’s pull down bed in the 2nd bedroom). It also has a large shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin.

Drive and Survive

For our drive and survive anglers there are 2 heated full body showers and toilet in a self contained block plus a 2 ring hob, microwave, toaster, fridge/freezer and tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk  for your use, there is also English Freeview TV / dvd available. There are English sockets to enable you to charge bait boats phones etc.

Electricity is on a meter (€2 coins)

We can provide a full English breakfast (€5) please speak to us on arrival

Bait Boat Hire

We now offer Waverunner bait boats for hire at a cost of €100 per week + €100 deposit.

Tackle Hire

Tackle hire package is available which includes:-

• 3 rods
• Bivvy
• Bed chair
• Unhooking mats
• Weigh slings
• Landing nets
• Rod pods
• Sleeping bags

Note; You must bring your own reels, alarms and terminal tackle.

Accommodation

There are 2 modern mobile homes on site which can be hired (£250 per week). These are very comfortable and comprise of a large lounge area with English Freeview TV ( & a range of DVD’s), fully equipped kitchen area with fridge, freezer and pots, pans & cutlery, also 2 bedrooms (1 double room, 1 room with 2 small singles and small child’s pull down bed in the lounge) - all you need to bring is your own towels and tea towels. Bedding is provided and it will sleep 6 people and 1 small child . It also has a large shower cubicle, toilet and washbasin.

Bait

We supply a range of Nash Baits (B2, Mach1, IC1) all €12 / kg sold in 4kg bags please ask for more details.

Disabled Information

Details: Wheelchair Anglers Fantastic Week Fishing

Ray, a wheelchair angler had a brilliant time here. He was amazed at how easy the access was to the Shower Block, the double door made it easy for the wheelchair. Ray was also able to get to all the pegs with ease.

Our Shower/ Facilities Block has a ramp leading up into it, there are 2 full body shower rooms with toilets, a microwave, two hobs, a fridge, kettle, sink and various pots, pans, cutlery, crockery. There is also ENGLISH FREEVIEW TV and DVD Player, plus of course, a heater for the cooler evenings. There is also the possibility of turning the seating into a double bed (if the caravan is not suitable for access)

Having Ray here reminded us of another angler we had here earlier in the year. Roger used a mobility scooter and, my word, did he build up some speed around the Lake.

He said the whole setup for disabled anglers was superb. The rest of Rogers’s Party were well impressed with him because he was taking their tea and coffee round , which meant that they didn’t have to leave their swims.

We welcome people with all disabilities, Alex is in his element when out there with the guys, he is a hands on sort of guy, on the shop floor, and is there to give advice, when asked, on baits, the hot spots etc. His enjoyment comes from seeing the guys enjoy themselves, especially guys with disabilities, the joy on their faces when they catch.

Bookings are Saturday to Saturday (arrive after 10.00 and depart by 10.00)

Non anglers
